THE LOST ART
OF CIVILITY
Stress, fatigue and irritability can, and often do, drive us to behave in ways that are less than civil.
Incivility spans a wide range of unacceptable behaviours from taking a phone call in the middle of a meeting, ridiculing a co-worker and gossiping, to aggressive acts and violent behaviours. It takes a toll on employee well-being, workplace productivity, and you guessed it – the bottom line. The good news – most rude behaviours can be easily overcome once workplace norms have been established, a civility code developed and soft skills training adopted.
